BIRTH: 1850 census has birth in Kentucky; but this could have been part of Virginia which became Kentucky after her birth. BIOGRAPHY: From Bob Blue: "Her father, David, married her off quickly after Thomas birth in 1815 to an old friend from the indian wars who was much older than she was. I believe he was honoring his old friend by naming a son Famous, After Famous Mortimer. They were in fact helping each other out. Famous Mortimer had just lost his wife and had 7 children by her who would need care. Mary was somewhat of an embarasement to David and Phoebe so he took Mary off their hands and kept Thomas who they adopted. According to her son Thomas’ obituary, Famous Mortimer and Mary came to Putnam Co. IN in 1833. 1833 is most likely a mistake because Famous and Mary had their last son, Marquis DeLaFayette Mortimore in 1823 in Flemming Co., KY. She did not move to Indiana until after her husband died in 1851. I would guess 1853 was the correct year." Moved to McLean Co., Illinois after marriage to Joseph Fagan. Fleming County, Kentucky, Pension Records Abstracts of Pension Papers of Soldiers of the Revolutionary, 1812 and Indian Wars Who Settled in Kentucky. Compiled by Annie W.B. That she was married to Famous Mortimer on 13th of October 1816 in Fleming County Kentucky by one Jonathan Wilson a minister and that her name before her marriage was Mary Blue (?) [sic]. That her husband, said Famous Mortimer died in Fleming County Kentucky on May 15, 1851. She further declares that she was married to Joseph Fagan at Park County Indiana on December 18, 1855. Birth year: the 1942 Wallingford book's OCR reads "1673" in one place and "167S" in another. This OCR regularly prints 8 as 3 (e.g. "April 24 1633" for 1638, "pirates 1631" for 1681), and the book lists him after Esther (b. 1676), so 27 Jun 1678 is kept.
1942 book: born about 1735; Find a Grave 38260348 gives 1731-1814. ** DAR PATRIOT CONFIRMED 10 Sep 2026 (GRS, browser): Ancestor #A129604 - BENJAMIN WALLINGFORD, VIRGINIA PATRIOTIC SERVICE: "FURNISHED MATERIAL AID" (Abercrombie & Slatten, VA Revolutionary Public Claims, Vol 1 p 124). DAR flags ONE bad previously-verified paper (a Joseph-daughter ELIZA mislink, DATA CF 3/2010) - does not affect our line. 25+ member applications hang off this patriot INCLUDING #896295 through child REBECCA, spouse [1] JAMES MURROW - a DAR app already exists through Rob's exact 3G-grandparents (Rebecca Wallingford m. BIRTH: "Descendants of James Murrow," by Charles Harlan Murrow, Des Moines, IA ttorney, ca 1930's. Copy in Des Moines, IA, Historical Lib.; also in Iowa Genealogical Society Lib., Des Moines, IA. DEATH: Rebecca was mentioned in minutes of Old Mt. Gilead church, Mason Co, KY, dated 30 Apr 1820. Rebecca must have died between then and 1832-35 when James Murrow supposedly went to Parke Co, IN.
